Remembrance Day
In accordance with tradition, Remembrance Day is observed with sufficient time to allow the one minutes silence to commence at 11 am.
History of Remembrance Day
At 11.00 am on 11 November, 1918 the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous war.
In November the Germans called for an armistice (suspension of fighting) in order to secure a peace settlement.
The Remembrance Day Ceremony will include wreath laying and the observance of a minute’s silence at 11am.
